šæ Now Offering Acupuncture for Pets!
Weāre excited to now offer acupuncture as a treatment option here at The Vet Station.
Acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate healing and relieve pain. Itās a gentle, holistic therapy that can be used to treat:
Arthritis and joint pain
Back pain or stiffness
Recovery from surgery or injury
Gastrointestinal issues
Stress and anxiety in pets
Gill, one of our vets, is fully qualified in veterinary acupuncture and will work with you to decide if itās suitable for your pet. Feel free to speak with us to learn more or book a consultation.
šāļø Pet Travel to Europe ā What You Need to Know
Planning a trip with your furry friend? Here's what you'll need for travel to the EU:
ā An Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued 1ā10 days before travelā A valid rabies vaccination (administered at least 21 days before travel if itās your petās first rabies jab)ā Microchipping is also a requirement
We have two Official Veterinarians (OVs) at the practice who are certified to issue AHCs and help with the documentation, so make sure to contact us well in advance of your trip.
š¾ Grass Seed Season ā Be Aware
Grass seeds can be a real hazard this time of year, particularly for dogs. These tiny, sharp seeds can:
Work their way into ears, eyes, paws, and skin
Cause infections, abscesses, or lameness
Often require veterinary removal, sometimes under anaesthetic
Check your pet regularly after walks, especially between toes, under armpits, and around ears. Keeping the fur trimmed short in high-risk areas can help prevent seeds from becoming lodged.
š Blue-Green Algae Warning
Warm weather increases the risk of blue-green algae blooming in lakes, ponds, and rivers. This toxic algae can be fatal if ingested by pets.
ā ļø Signs of poisoning can include vomiting, seizures, lethargy, or difficulty breathing.Avoid letting your pet swim or drink from any water that looks green, cloudy, or scummy ā and check for warning signs at popular walking spots.
š¶ Pet of the Month ā Meet Harry!
Say hello to Harry, a brave 3-month-old Griffon Bruxellois who is our Pet of the Month! Poor Harry fractured his leg and needed surgery, but he handled it like a champ. Heās now metalwork-free and bouncing back to normal, living his best puppy life! šŖš¾ Well done, Harry ā weāre so proud of you!
