Senior clinics at The Vet Station
While it’s not a foregone conclusion that pets will become ill as they age, they do become more susceptible to a range of conditions – making it even more important that you bring them in to see us regularly.
If we can catch symptoms early it gives us a greater chance of treating them.
Senior clinics for dogs and cats involve routine health evaluations designed to detect early signs of age-related diseases including arthritis, kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, dental problems and cognitive decline.
Senior clinics help us identify these conditions early when they may be more manageable, potentially improving the quality and length of life for senior pets.
Here's what our senior clinics include:
A comprehensive physical exam helps detect visible signs of illness or discomfort, such as:
-
Weight loss or gain
-
Lumps or bumps on the skin
-
Dental issues (like gum disease or tooth decay)
-
Joint stiffness or arthritis
-
Eye conditions (e.g. cataracts or glaucoma)
Benefits of Senior Clinics
Many conditions in senior pets can be managed or slowed down if caught early.
We recommend starting senior clinics for dogs around the age of seven years, and for cats at around eight years.
The most cost effective way to re-check bloods, urine and blood pressure in full would be to go for our senior pet combo product which is £302 – or just £250 for Fire Plan members!
This is a 30 minute extended consultation which includes a full clinical examination by one of our lovely vets, Chem 17, haematology, electrolytes, SDMA, thyroid hormone, blood pressure, urine testing and urine collection kit.
The cost of all of the components of the senior combo if priced individually would total over £400, so going for the combo reduces the cost down.
